What is the
Focused Semester on KK-Theory and its Applications?
There will be a focused semester on KK-Theory and applications with particular emphasis to the Baum-Connes conjecture taking place in the time period from May 4 to July 24 2009 at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Münster, Germany. It is organized by Siegfried Echterhoff, Wolfgang Lück, Walther Paravicini, and Raimar Wulkenhaar of the University of Münster and Ryszard Nest of the University of Copenhagen. The focused semester is a joint activity of the the EU-Network Non-Commutative Geometry together with the DFG Sonderforschungsbereich 478 at the University of Münster and it is also supported by Professor Wolfgang Lück through his Leibniz prize.
The semester is mainly addressed to Ph.D students in the areas of non-commutative Geometry, Operator Algebras and Topology with some background in Operator algebras.
Ph. D. students interested in this program can either spend the whole time or only part of the time in Münster. We expect that students which are interested to participate will be financially supported by their home institutions (e.g. by the travel funds of the above named EU-network). If you are interesed to participate, please send your email-application to Siegfried Echterhoff. A list of Ph.D. students and post-docs who already enlisted to attended the semester can be found here.
